Morse and Lewis investigate the death of Laura Poindexter, an American tourist who is part of an exclusive tour group visiting Oxford. Missing from her personal effects is her jewelry, including the Wolvercote Tongue which she was going to donate to the Ashmolean Museum. The pathologist determines that she died of natural causes, but Morse feels there's something not quite righ...。在新加坡由于厕所的卫生问题，导致了近五十个人食物中毒，于是卫生官员开始想办法解决这个问题，但解决这个问题并不是想象中的那么简单。。在一次野营中，Thomas唯一的女儿被抢劫逃亡的伐木卡车撞击身亡。悲痛欲绝的Thomas为了给女儿报仇，改名Chris搬到了偏僻的伐木小镇，等待着凶手Luke刑满释放。终于得偿所愿，Chris与Luke被分配到一组进行危险的伐木工作，每当Luke爬到树上时，Chris几欲痛下杀手。可随着对他的了解逐渐加深，Chris得知Luke也有一个年幼的女儿。同情心与日俱增，Chris复仇的决心开始动摇……。
