在最困難的時候，你能不能把自己放下，相信希望？ 故事從一個問題開始：「你願意為我撰寫祭文嗎？」問這問題的人，是米奇小時候參加的猶太教會裡的牧師，而這時老牧師已經八十二歲。與此同時，他在目前居住的城市結識了另一位叫做亨利的基督教牧師。亨利牧師特別關注窮人和遊民，但他曾經由於販毒入罪坐牢。這兩位牧師，一白一黑；一個六十年如一日，而今垂垂老矣，一個曾誤入歧途、歷經滄桑但現在虔誠又熱心，而在這一切的不同之中，他們卻都有著許多相似動人的溫暖故事…。Imagine what it would feel like to be the only black television star in Hollywood at a time when the KLU KLUX KLAN acted out violently against black people, when America groaned under the weight of segregation and prejudice.
