A baby in a basket is left on the steps of an isolated monastery on a Scottish island. The nuns take it in, planning to care for it until a storm passes. Soon though, strange and unexplained events begin to happen at the convent.。十八年前，谌予糖八岁。妈妈在医院生下弟弟谌予洲。此时，家里佣人，也是母亲的手帕交柳思思，也在同一家医院生下男婴。柳思思趁谌重栀虚弱昏睡时，将两个婴儿调换。而这一幕，恰好被钻进床底捡布娃娃的谌予糖看见。。1989年，在“天鹅绒革命”的风口浪尖上，玛丽和她的丈夫维克多流亡多年后回到捷克斯洛伐克，突如其来的一场车祸后，玛丽从昏迷中醒来，却发现没有丈夫维克多的踪迹。。
